Block of Washington Street may be two-way in two weeks

An area of Washington Street near the Clay Center should become a two-way street in about two weeks.

Barring bad weather or other problems, motorists taking the Leon Sullivan Way exit from Interstate 64/77 should soon be able to hang a left onto Washington Street, city officials say.

The conversion of the Washington Street block between Brooks Street and Leon Sullivan from one-way to two-way traffic, in the works for more than a year, is now scheduled for July 14.
