W.Va. Methodists reject resolution on Iraq war

BUCKHANNON - Members of West Virginia's United Methodist Church
have rejected resolutions involving the war in Iraq and open
membership to the church.
The church wrapped up its annual conference in Buckhannon on
Sunday and announced the members had rejected a resolution that would
have required a discussion of the Iraq war during Sunday school
sessions over the next year.
The resolution was based on a statement signed by more than half
the church's bishops, including West Virginia Conference Bishop
Ernest S. Lyght. In the statement, the bishops called the war an
"unjust and immoral invasion ...
