Small-town experience pays off: Former Clarksburg mayor uses his West Virginia background as president of national association

Jim Hunt believes 21 years in Clarksburg city government helped prepare him to serve this year as president of a major association, the National League of Cities.

Hunt was elected late last year to a one-year term as president of the league, which describes itself as "the nation's oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance."

The Washington, D.C.-based league is a described as a resource and advocate for 18,000 U.S. cities, towns and villages, which collectively ...
