Cancer claims the life of actress Anne Bancroft: Academy Award, Tony winner had long list of memorable roles

NEW YORK - Anne Bancroft, the Tony award-winning actress best
remembered for her role as Mrs. Robinson in "The Graduate", has died.
She was 73.
Bancroft died Monday of uterine cancer, according to John Barlow,
a spokesman for her husband, producer Mel Brooks.
Despite a long list of memorable film and stage roles, "The
Graduate" overshadowed her other achievements. She said in 2003 that
nearly everyone discouraged her from playing the role of Dustin
Hoffman's middle-aged seductre...
