Brittany Blackwell remembered as being all smiles: Police say father stabbed girl, mother to death

Fifth-grader Brittany Blackwell was full of hope when she returned to Clendenin Elementary before the end of the last school year.

She had returned from spending part of the year in North Carolina. Brittany was coming back to the comfort of familiar surroundings.

"Will you be staying until the end of the school year?" asked her principal, Lois Moran.

A broad smile spread across Brittany's face. She nodded to indicate that she would be staying and replied, "We wanted to come back to Clendenin so bad."

She would have been making another exciting new start at Elkview Middle ...
