independence air: Airline competition begins; Independence Air presence at Yeager felt in ticket prices

When Independence Air begins serving Charleston on July 23, it
will bring lower fares, offer some more comfortable flights and
provide additional flight options.
Independence, the nation's newest low-fare airline, is already
pushing ticket prices down.
On the day Independence begins flying from Charleston to its
Washington Dulles International Airport hub, the discount carrier
will charge from $78 to $192, roundtrip.
United - the only airline that currently offers nonstop service
linking Charleston and Dulles - is matching those fares.
