Expedition re-enactors to visit Huntington, Stop among first on Lewis & Clark: bicentennial tour

Back when a thundering herd referred to actual stampeding bison,
the Lewis & Clark expedition floated down the Ohio River to what is
now Huntington, a point marking the river's turn to the west. This
weekend, re-enactors commemorating the bicentennial of the Lewis &
Clark expedition will stop in Huntington. It is one of the first few
stops on their journey, and the closest to Charleston.
The Huntington location is being promoted as "Where the river runs
west." It's not exactly the same as "The Gateway to the West," a
title that belongs to St. Louis, but it isn't bad.
