Employment bureau files lawsuits against companies

The state Bureau of Employment Programs has filed lawsuits against four employers it says are in default with the agency's Workers' Compensation and Unemployment Compensation divisions.

The suits were filed against:

* Baxter & Co. Inc., a Monroe County hardware store and plumbing installation and repair business. The bureau claims the company owes back taxes, interest and penalties totaling $2,778 to Workers' Compensation and $3,399 to Unemployment Compensation.
