Brandy Station Battles Over Auto Racetrack

Like most residents here, 83-year-old Sally Witten has lived in
the tiny community along the Rappahanock River nearly all of her
life.
In all of that time, she says, very little about Brandy Station
has changed.
Take Bailey's Country Store, for example. The old-time market, run
by the Bailey family since its founding in 1900, still sells homemade
Christmas candy in December, just as it did when Witten was a child.
Witten's neighbors may have grown old or grown up, she said, but
their property has tended not to change hands. Instead, it's being
passed down from one generation to the next.
