Arthur Schlesinger Jr.'s unfair, uncivil and distorted attack {letter, Dec. 2} on Stephen Rosenfeld and researcher William Larsh, who was the subject of Mr. Rosenfeld's column, tells us more about the role of the historian as apologist than as seeker of historical truth.
