Last summer archaeologists from Paris were digging in the ruins around Plymouth, Mass. They came across a stone tablet that described how the Native Americans celebrated Thanksgiving. Since this tablet was sent by the Pilgrims through the U.S. Post Office, the French never received it - and that is why I am reprinting a copy of that description for the first time.

One of the most important holidays is Thanksgiving Day, known in France as le Jour de Merci Donnant.
