Pr. William Officials Say Lego Was Seeking Greener Pastures

Skeptical that warm weather and larger numbers of children in Southern California enticed Lego to decide to build a theme park there, Prince William County officials yesterday said they believe the Danish toy-making giant bypassed the county because it could not negotiate a better financial deal.

Officials said that Lego wanted the developer of the Cherry Hill peninsula site to spend an additional $3 million to flatten the rolling landscape and remove trees to bring it up to par with the location in Carlsbad, Calif.
