At the White House, they are still talking about the move Vice
President Gore pulled on Ross Perot during last week's Great Debate
over the North American Free Trade Agreement.
Accusing Perot of favoring the kind of protectionist tariffs that
were tried in 1930, Gore produced a photograph of former senator Reed
O. Smoot (R-Utah) and former representative Willis C. Hawley (R-
Ore.) to illustrate his point.
"Now, I framed this so you can put it on your wall if you want
to," Gore told Perot on "Larry King Live."
Perot was none too pleased with the gambit.
