Chess; Kasparov's Lead Widens

Gary Kasparov won Game 7 of his world chess championship match with Nigel Short in London yesterday. It was the best game he has played so far in the $2.5 million match, sponsored by the Professional Chess Association (PCA), and it raised the score to a formidable 5 1/2 to 1 1/2 in his favor. The match will be won by the first player to reach 12 1/2 points.

In a news conference after the game, Kasparov said he would have "big news" before the end of the match about corporate sponsorship that would guarantee the PCA's financial security. He rejected the suggestion that the winner of the PCA ...
