C. Francis Murphy Dies; Was Corporation Counsel

C. Francis Murphy, 66, a Washington lawyer and former D.C. corporation counsel, died of cancer July 28 at his home in Washington.

At his death, Mr. Murphy was a partner in the law firm of Wilkes, Artis, Hedrick & Lane, where he specialized in local issues involving zoning, historic preservation and real estate.

He was corporation counsel from 1971 to 1975, and during that period played a role in the crafting of the D.C. Home Rule Act.
