Yakima Draws Union Gap Into Lawsuit over Sewage Odors

Misery likes company, and for Union Gap residents, this may come
with a hefty price tag.
The city of Yakima has pulled Union Gap into a 3-year-old lawsuit
over foul odors from the Yakima Regional Wastewater Treatment plant
along Interstate 82 and just south of Kmart.
Union Gap officials say Yakima is looking for someone to share in
a possible settlement of a lawsuit filed by about 200 Union Gap
residents in March 1999.
As a result, Union Gap residents could see rate increases to help
their city pay a share of damages should Yakima be found at fault.
