Yakima Speedway -- Jefferson Takes First, Second in Races

Jason Jefferson picked up a first and a second in the twin, 50- lap Late Models main events at Yakima Speedway on Saturday night.

Jefferson, of Yakima, outlasted a series of flags - red and black - to win the first event. Then, he chased Tom Sweatman of Cosmopolis, who started sixth in the second feature, as Sweatman came back from being black flagged in the first main to win the nightcap.

A series of crashes cut the field from 15 to seven in the first main. Sweatman got tangled up with four other cars with 15 laps left, and while the oval was cleared, officials ruled ...
