Some facts about the John Birch Society

After reading June Frazer's letter "In League with the John Birch Society" (Monitor, Aug. 14), I would suggest that she do a little more research on the John Birch Society.

We did not call Eisenhower a communist. Joe McCarthy died before the John Birch Society was formed, so he couldn't have been a member. While we opposed the various civil rights acts, it was based on constitutional grounds. We predicted that such legislation would lead to hiring quotas and hurt race relations. We were right.
