On Tuesday, voters will choose three new school board members from a pool of seven candidates. Some of the big issues they'll likely face in the next three years are familiar: a possible reorganization of the city's elementary schools and a lawsuit challenging the state's school funding formula.

But some topics are newer. The cost of health care is swelling fast, and the school district is struggling to keep up. So is the cost of fuel. And the federal No Child Left Behind law has bumped up the requirements for schools.
