John R. H. Fletcher, 73, of Concord died Wednesday, May 18, 2005,
of cancer.
Born in London, England, on Sept. 21, 1931, he was the son of
Robert H. Fletcher and Lillian Reeves.
During World War II, he spent several years of his youth evacuated
to the British countryside living with foster families.
He came to the United States in 1951 to attend Harvard University
where he graduated magna cum laude in 1954, majoring in English. He
attended graduate school in law at Oxford University before returning
to New York City to work briefly as a director of off-Broadway plays,
