SCARBOROUGH, Maine - Philip Nairne Bowditch, 86, of Scarborough,
formerly of Cohasset, a retired engineer who designed systems used in
the landings on the moon, died Aug. 1.
Mr. Bowditch began his career as a junior engineer at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology Instrumentation Laboratory in
Cambridge, shortly after graduation from MIT and completed his
working career as creator and head of the scientific and engineering
