Foyt Faces New Turns at Indy 500; 58-Year-Old Racing Legend No Longer Behind the Wheel

Inside his four garages at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,
nothing has changed for A.J. Foyt. His name, in white-and-red script,
remains prominent above each door; his control is still total, right
down to the sign that reads: "A.J.'s Phone. If you are not A.J.,
don't use it!!!"
But there is a difference this year - and it stirs all sorts of
emotions from even the smallest outposts along the worldwide pedal-
to-the-metal trail. While the 58-year-old Foyt still runs his two-
car show here, he will not run Sunday in the show, the Indianapolis
500.
An Indy field without Foyt is like the Masters ...
