Growing competition: Wal-Mart plows into fertile organic food market

When consumers think about organic foods, Wal-Mart usually isn't the first brand that comes to mind. But that may change now that the discounter is focusing its efforts on organics.

The Bentonville, Ark.-based retail giant recently launched a nationwide TV ad campaign aimed at luring organic food consumers into its "Supercenters," and it is vastly expanding its organic food offerings in many of its stores this year.
