In a long-awaited move, the White House has named New Jersey
petroleum executive Miles Lerman and political science professor Ruth
B. Mandel as chairman and vice chairman of the U.S. Holocaust
Memorial Council, museum sources said yesterday.
The appointments, which were revealed to the staff of the
Holocaust Museum via electronic mail late yesterday, will be
effective upon their announcement by the White House, possibly today.
