HALIFAX - Albert E. Kiernan, 81, of Halifax, retired superintendent of schools in Hanson, died Monday at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth.

"If you ask him, he'll say he is only doing his job," Carrol Gagnon, principal of Indian Head School, said in 1987 when Mr. Kiernan retired. "If you ask us, we will tell you of a man who weighs each decision in his soul. If you ask students, they will tell you of a man who cared about them."
