QUINCY - The Norfolk County district attorney has reversed course and will enlist a special prosecutor to press gun charges against former Quincy Chief Plumbing Inspector Ralph Maher.

New information detailing the apparent reasons for a 2002 FBI raid on Maher's West Quincy home that yielded more than 50 firearms prompted the decision by District Attorney William Keating to name a special prosecutor in the gun case after he originally said he wouldn't.
