CLASSICAL RECORDINGS; In Good Company, Sir Malcolm Sargent and the Best of Gilbert & Sullivan

It may be heretical to say so, but many of the best Gilbert and
Sullivan recordings I have heard were not those made by the D'Oyly
Carte Company (though they are treasurable). Rather, they are part of
the series recorded by EMI in the 1950s and '60s with Sir Malcolm
Sargent conducting the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus, the Pro Arte
Orchestra and the best solo singers then working in England - such
artists as Geraint Evans, Owen Brannigan, George Baker, Alexander
Young, Richard Lewis, Monica Sinclair, Marjorie Thomas, Helen Watts,
Elsie Morison, Heather Harper and April Cantelo.
