CANTON - Thomas J. Ronayne Jr., 81, a former Canton deputy fire chief and a decorated World War II bomber pilot, died Friday at home after a long illness.

Mr. Ronayne was the town's most decorated serviceman in World War II. He was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals for his bombing runs in Europe.
