Drivers cross about bridge; Traffic jammed as repairs begin on Adams St. bridge

Moving forward sometimes means slowing down. Just ask the commuters who have grown accustomed to traveling between Boston and the South Shore by way of the Adams Street bridge in Milton.

Traffic has always piled up at the bridge during rush hours, but this week, things got a lot worse.

The bridge is undergoing a $3 million rehabilitation. Roads Corp. of Billerica began the work on Tuesday. Police have closed half the bridge, turning it into a one-way street, and only Boston-bound traffic is allowed to use it.
