Some people, when searching for signs of spring, look for robins or
flowers in bloom.
But for Phil Lofgren, spring arrives when the herring return to the
rivers.
Lofgren is a warden for the Weymouth Herring Run, one of the more
successful runs in the state.
Lofgren said watching the herring go upriver makes him feel
refreshed and renewed. "It helps me feel my connection to the planet
to help them out," he said.
