Malcolm L. Simpson III HALIFAX - Malcolm L. "Skip" Simpson III, 44, of Halifax, a Amtrak conductor for four years, died Wednesday in Kauai, Hawaii.

Mr. Simpson drowned while on vacation after he was pulled out to sea by a large wave while swimming in Queen's Bath cove.

Born in Weymouth, he was raised in Pembroke. He graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in 1977. He moved to Halifax a few years ago.

He served 20 years in the Coast Guard, retiring in 1997. He was junior vice commander at Hanson American Legion Post 226.
