Old King Lear' resonates with contemporary themes

James Buescher In the Shakespearean catalog, "Hamlet," "Macbeth" and "King Lear" follow an arc of age-related themes. "Hamlet," often popular with teenagers, is about a prince trying to enter society and find his footing in the world. "Macbeth," about a would-be king drunk on ambition, tends to appeal to 30-somethings who have established their place in the world but are still climbing life's ladder. And "King Lear," which examines a man's ignoble descent from the pinnacle of his life and career, tends to be popular with older audiences. At least that's how Theater of the Seventh Sister ...
