County ranks fourth in new housing units

PATRICK BURNS Counties in the state's south and south-central regions topped the list for new housing units last year, according to a study released Thursday by Penn State University. Lancaster County, which added 2,292 housing units between 2003 and 2004, ranked fourth among the state's 67 counties in total housing growth. However it ranked only 12th in overall percentage change, gaining 1.2 percent and increasing housing units to 188,468, from 186,194, during that time.
