Happy birthday, Helen; At 106, Helen Wescoat looking forward to 107

Helen Wescoat never thought she'd live to be 100. She still couldn't believe it when she hit 105. Today she is celebrating her 106th birthday and looking forward to her 107th.

"I like the sound of 107 better than 106," Helen said.

And before she goes to "the next party," she wants to see St. Andrew By-the-Sea Lutheran Church rebuilt in her longtime home of Atlantic City, N.J. It was sold to a casino and torn down six years ago.

Her niece, Elaine Newhart, believes Helen is still here to "teach us all to make the most of where you land. She is and was resilient and has seen a second generation ...
