Taking note of perfect pitch
|
Tim Wolf never bothered to ask himself what key most car horns
were in.
"I honestly didn't really know the answer," said Wolf, 39, who
always had the ability to identify pitch by ear.
But when, on a noisy tour bus, some of his college friends were
paging through a trivia book and posed the question about car horns,
Wolf gamely tossed out a reply.
"I yelled back, "F,'" said Wolf, now a bookkeeper for Buck
Hardware and a trumpet player in his spare time. "I won't say what
they said then" -- think language habits of college-age males -- "but
F was the right pitch."
