Thousands of people make their way through the galleries, scuffing floors and dirtying walls. Roofs leak, paintings fade and works on paper deteriorate.

After a while, a museum needs a good face lift.

And that is exactly what a large chunk of the Baltimore Museum of Art has gotten, thanks in part to Lancaster's Richard C. von Hess Foundation.

"A Grand Legacy: Five Centuries of European Art" recently opened at the museum, located at 10 Art Museum Drive, off of Charles Street, just north of downtown Baltimore.
