Countians excel in sheep contest

Lancaster County youths did very well Thursday at a junior breeding sheep competition at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.

Twelve-year-old Kelsey Binkley of Conestoga captured champion and reserve champion awards in the Dorset ewes category, and Derick Bollinger of Manheim earned reserve champion in the Shropshire division.

Kelsey's champion Dorset lamb was a yearling ewe. The reserve winner was a fall ewe lamb. She also showed a spring ewe lamb.

In Southdown spring ewe competition, Jimmy Zimmerman of Reinholds placed eighth and tenth. In Suffolk competition, Andrew Gerhart of Reinholds won two ...
