Mystery illness sends MU teammates to hospital

The state Department of Health is investigating a mystery illness that sickened members of Millersville University's ice hockey team following a Sunday game in Lehigh County.

Five players were hospitalized Monday and 20 others, including two coaches, were examined after experiencing shortness of breath and a burning sensation in their throats and chests.

The players came down with the symptoms after playing against Lafayette College in Whitehall, Lehigh County, said Robert Thomas, Millersville University's vice president for student affairs.
