5th-grade writing sample proves once a scribbler, always a scribbler

Learning how to write well in longhand, a correspondent noted in
The New York Times last week, teaches patience, discipline and the
rewards of practice.
These virtues, explained Henry Nass, a business-development
consultant, are "the beginning of what will be required for progress
in many other skills children need to learn. The mastery of
penmanship is thus a grade schooler's first metaphor."
If that is true, the Scribbler flunked life's first metaphor.
He is not the only one.
Many adults write badly, if we write at all -- but no worse than
