Remember when baseball was pure? Ed Dinger doesn't.
As a kid, he played on a team with overage players. "I wasn't one
of them and never played much because of them. We were caught in the
end and had to forfeit our games," he recalled.
The team's transgressions fit right in with baseball's checkered
history, he later learned. Now the former Lancaster County resident
has turned his fascination with one of game's best-known bums into a
