House-hunting blues; Buying a home in Lancaster County has become quite a challenge. With a prosperous local economy and continued low mortgage rates, homes are selling quickly. This leaves many prospective homebuyers in a lurch.

Like many newlyweds, Rob and Nicole Starr are thinking about starting a family. But first, they want to get out of their apartment complex in Lititz and settle down in their own home.

Over the past three months, the Starrs have been looking for a house in Lancaster County in the $125,000 to $155,000 range. They don't want a recently renovated home, but a house that they can fix up themselves and personalize based on their own budget and tastes.

Unfortunately, the housing market here hasn't been all that cooperative.
