Biologist offers suggestions on avoiding bear conflicts

Bear sightings and conflicts become common in spring when
Pennsylvania's 14,000 black bears look closer to human dwellings for
food, Pennsylvania Game Commission bear biologist Mark Ternent said.
He suggests bear-proofing properties in areas that have a large
number of bears. Keeping food and garbage out of reach can avoid
conflicts.
"Habituating bears to humans can lead to conflicts and the
