Balalaika orchestra to perform tonight
|
The Ossipov Balalaika Orchestra from Russia will play folk and
classical music at 8 p.m. tonight in Lancaster Mennonite Fine Arts
Center.
Founded in 1919, the orchestra is in the United States for the
first time since its successful visit in 1989.
The concert is one of the season's series of Lancaster Community
Concert Association.
A favorite of audiences and critics around the world, the Ossipov
Balalaika Orchestra has 70 musicians and two vocal soloists from the
Moscow Musical Theatre. It performs lilting songs and rousing dances
as well as works by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Khachaturian ...
