Daly Hurt in Scuffle, Pulls Out of Swiss Open

John Daly, who was involved in a fight with the father of another golfer after he finished playing Sunday in the World Series of Golf in Akron, Ohio, reinjured his back in the scuffle and yesterday pulled out of this week's Swiss Open.

According to Daly's Washington-based agent, John Mascatello, Daly aggravated a sore back that has plagued him for most of the last two months. Daly had X-rays taken in Akron that showed no skeletal damage, but, Mascatello said, "There's no way he could possibly play this week."

He said Daly will have more extensive X-rays done this week at home in Memphis.
