Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin, Chemist Who Won Nobel Prize, Dies at 84

Dorothy Crowfoot Hodgkin, 84, winner of the 1964 Nobel Prize in
chemistry for her work in determining the atomic structure of
biochemical substances through the use of X-ray technology, died
July 30 at her home in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, England,
after a stroke.
Dr. Hodgkin was a chemistry graduate of Oxford University's
Somerville College. She did her doctoral work at Cambridge
University, where her professors included John Desmond Bernal, with
whom she later did research.
From 1934 to 1977, Dr. Hodgkin taught and did research at
Oxford, where her students included future prime ...
