Football League centres boosted by Premier League windfall

ACADEMIES AND centres of excellence throughout the Football League will receive an unexpected pounds 5.4 million windfall for three

seasons, after the Premier League decided to reinvest a portion of their revenue further down the pyramid.

Development of young English talent has become an increasingly contentious issue, fuelled by the influx of foreign players. Football League clubs have long received an annual grant to help fund their youth programmes, but the new figure will guarantee a higher lump sum for the next three years.
