Swansong for a much-loved friend Swan Hellenic cruises may be an institution but their days are numbered. Our readers are not happy

Last week we ran an article on one of Swan Hellenic's last
cruises. The company's new owners, Carnival, have commercially driven
plans for Swan Hellenic's ship, Minerva II, that look likely to sound
the death-knell for a much-loved institution next April.
We asked readers with thoughts on the matter, or memories of Swan
cruises, to share them on the message board of our Travel website. A
great many did, all equally dismayed and united in the call - somehow
- for these decorous, scholarly and comradely cruises to be saved.
