The president of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf, has an unshakeable belief in his own destiny, and his chutzpah was on full display last week. The commando-turned-military ruler, a survivor of three assassination attempts who has, since taking power in a coup, held down what Time magazine called "the most dangerous job in the world'', charged through diplomatic minefields on a visit to the United States and Britain, leaving a trail of controversy.
