It will soon be five years since we joined the Americans in invading Afghanistan. Unlike the invasion of Iraq, the invasion of Afghanistan had almost universal support when it happened - and it has not been the subject of much criticism since. No one has claimed that the war in Afghanistan was "an illegal invasion based on a false prospectus''. There were, and are, no demonstrations against it, and no one will get elected to the House of Commons on a platform of "Troops out of Afghanistan now!''
