A glimpse into Satchmo's wonderful world Louis Armstrong's restored New York house is now open to the public. Sue Attwood takes a peek

Louis Armstrong was on the road so much that the house in which he
and his wife, Lucille, lived for 28 years was bought and decorated by
Lucille without him having seen it.
Despite the glitz and glamour displayed in the house, the couple
never lost the common touch. Local children helped Louis to carry his
trumpets and suitcases into the home and Lucille would hand out ice
cream as they watched Westerns.
I join six others on the 40-minute tour conducted by Michael
Cogswell, the director of the Louis Armstrong House and Archives. It
is a tight squeeze through the narrow hallway into the cream ...
